Foxtel – what to do with the upgrade and how to save money

What is all this about a Foxtel upgrade anyway?

In Foxtel’s own words :The TV cable network in Australia will be closing in 2023 and we will no longer be able to provide Foxtel TV over this network”.

For households that currently get their Foxtel through cable to the street this generally means you will have to switch to a dish or get your foxtel through the internet. Foxtel can advise you of options for your specific household.

When is this Foxtel upgrade happening?

It’s been going on for a couple of years now but the deadline, according to Foxtel, is mid 2023.

What are my options with the Foxtel upgrade?

If you have Foxtel and haven’t upgraded yet you are probably wondering: Should we go with IQ4 or IQ5?  Do we still need a Foxtel dish?  Do we need a digital antenna?  If we do is there a way to save hundreds of dollars if we don’t have the cabling needed for an antenna (spoiler alert -yes, there is!).  What are our alternatives?

A few things you can do to save money include:

1) Going with IQ5 then having your Foxtel outlets re-routed to your antenna.

2) Downgrading to a cheaper basic Foxtel package and getting sport via Kayo.

3) Having a digital antenna installed now (if you don’t already have one) and getting a good deal – as appose to waiting till the last minute and getting an installer from who knows where.

An example or how we save customers hundreds of dollars with their Foxtel upgrade

We have an elderly customer in North Turrumurra who was stressed about the upgrade and didn’t know what to do. We explained his options. He ended up going with 2 x IQ5 Foxtel boxes. The cables/outlets he has been using were then redundant so we routed those two cables to his digital antenna. His total cost for the cabling part of everything was just $50. He had received two quotes from other installers before us – one quoted over $500 and the other over $400.

We have saved hundreds of customers hundreds of dollars by letting them know the most cost –effective option for their situation.  We can pop around and let you know your options.
